Washington State University - CASE Grand Gold Award

Thrilled to be part of the University Marketing and Communications department where we created the CougBeat magazine as a final recruitment tactic. Capturing the attention of incoming freshman, the magazine went on to win a CASE Grand Gold Award.

WSU Adobe Creative Jam 2018

WSU's first ever Creative Jam hosted by Adobe was an experience like no other. My team and I were challenged to create an app in three hours using Adobe's new platform 'Adobe XD'. My team and I were able to create an app called "XSCAPE" which was geared towards helping college students relieve stress through helpful tips, articles, and the opportunity to chat with other college students as well as 24 hour counselors. Our team of writers, an apparel merchandising major, and myself, a marketing major were able to win the audience's approval and snag a trophy along the way. Adobe promised bragging rights across campus so here they are!

Marketing Research: University Crossings

January 2019 - May 2019

This project was done in my Marketing Research class at Washington State University. Throughout the semester, my group and I were assigned to work with a local client in Pullman, WA. The client was University Crossings. Their mission was to establish a new housing complex for students. However, they needed our help to fulfill their mission. My group was set out to find what in-unit amenities students would prefer in prospective apartments. This information would help them create apartments that would be useful to students. They wanted students to be comfortable in their new homes, as well as provide them with the best amenities to make apartment hunting less of a hassle.

We kicked off the project by creating a survey using the Qualtrics system. We distributed the survey to over one hundred students in just one week. We asked questions that were going to give us a little more information on where we should direct our focus in the next phase of the project. That phase was the focus group. We sat down with a group of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors of all backgrounds. Throughout the focus group, we created a dream apartment. We took them step by step through the apartment figuring out what students truly want in an apartment and what would make them choose this one that we were creating. Lots of things factored into this. Such as a heater for cold Pullman winters, natural lighting, pre-furnished, pets, cost, etc. We took all these things into consideration.

As soon as we had gathered our data, we presented it to our client, University Crossings. They loved our feedback and thanked us for our hard work. This project taught me a lot about marketing research and I now feel comfortable conducting research in order to get the best outcome!
